Inner Wheel Club of Umungasi marked the International Day of the Girl Child with a transformative outreach program at Cor Mariae Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Umungasi Aba, bringing messages of empowerment, education, and self-care to young girls poised to become tomorrow’s leaders.
Building Dignity and Leadership
Past Board Director Sally Unam set the tone for the program by addressing the students on the critical importance of maintaining dignity and exemplary behavior. She emphasized that these qualities form the foundation for effective leadership, encouraging the girls to uphold high standards as they prepare for future roles in society.
Girls on the Frontline: Leading Change
Speaking on this year’s theme, “The Girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis,” Past District Chairman Ihuoma Ndimele provided historical context on why celebrating and protecting the girl child remains vital. She delivered an inspiring message encouraging academic excellence and confidence, urging the students to support one another and take their education seriously as pathways to greatness and leadership.
Personal Hygiene: A Foundation for Confidence
Past District Chairman Uzumma Ogburuafor captivated the students with an engaging and educative presentation on personal hygiene. Her talk emphasized the connection between cleanliness, self-care, and confidence as essential elements in their journey to womanhood. The students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating keen interest in cultivating healthy grooming habits and practices.

The school’s management, led by Principal Rev. Sister Henrietta Orakwe, welcomed the Inner Wheel delegation warmly and expressed sincere appreciation for selecting their institution for this meaningful initiative.
To reinforce the day’s lessons and support the students’ well-being, the club presented practical gifts including sanitary pads, soaps, and snacks—tangible resources to encourage good hygiene practices and overall health.
