District 912 Celebrates International Women's Day

Inner Wheel District 912 Nigeria marked International Women’s Day 2025 with a powerful celebration under the theme “Accelerating Action: The Power of Collective Effort in Advancing Women’s Equality.” The event masterfully combined intellectual engagement, humanitarian service, and celebration to both empower women and support the less privileged in society.

District Chairman IWM CP Abiola Aberuagba delivered a compelling welcome address that emphasized the critical need for collective action in advancing gender equality. She urged women to support one another and break down existing barriers, while reaffirming Inner Wheel’s vital role in advocating for education, healthcare, financial empowerment, and the ongoing fight against gender-based violence.

The celebration featured a keynote speech by PNR Grace Oluremi Omotoso, Nigeria’s first Nephrologist Nurse and 1st Past National Representative of Inner Wheel Nigeria and West Africa, who highlighted the fundamental importance of unity and selfless service in women’s advancement. Her presentation was complemented by an enlightening lecture from Mrs. Folashade Ajayi on “Accelerating Actions: The Power of Collective Effort in Advancing Women’s Equality,” which emphasized the need for women to harness their full potential and actively push for gender equality.

In a truly life-changing act of service to humanity, Inner Wheel District 912 donated wheelchairs to two physically challenged men who had been forced to move by gliding on their bellies – one for over 30 years. This profound humanitarian gesture, made possible through support from the National Governing Body (NGB) at the recently concluded Rally, restored both dignity and independence to these individuals.

The distinguished event was graced by DC Aberuagba, District Executives, IPNR Ikheloa, PNT Johnson, and PDCs Ebo, Olasanya, Osunbayo, and Ashipa, with a special appearance by PNR Amazing Grace Omotosho, a distinguished leader and passionate advocate for women’s empowerment. The celebration concluded with a vibrant social gathering where attendees exchanged heartwarming gifts, enjoyed meals and music, and strengthened bonds of camaraderie that reinforced the true spirit of sisterhood.

As Inner Wheel District 912 continues its important mission, this impactful event served as a powerful reminder that “Every Beat Counts and Every Action Matters” in the pursuit of a more inclusive and equal society.
