District Chairman Princess Adenike Sodipo led members of District 911 in a powerful celebration of International Women’s Day, joining the international community in honoring women’s achievements and advocating for gender equality.
The inspiring event took place at the Rotary Center, 8 Ladoke Akintola Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, bringing together women leaders and advocates under this year’s empowering theme: “Accelerate Action.”
The celebration featured an impressive lineup of accomplished women leaders who delivered motivational talks on contemporary issues affecting women today:
Rt. Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips, former Chief Judge of Lagos State, shared her judicial insights and experiences breaking barriers in the legal profession.
Engr. (Mrs.) Aramide Adeyoye, former Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Works & Infrastructure, brought her expertise in public service and engineering to inspire women in male-dominated fields.
Mrs. Adedolapo Aminu and Mrs. Olatokunbo Adegoju each contributed unique perspectives on different aspects of women’s empowerment and leadership.
Throughout the event, speakers consistently encouraged women to embrace opportunities for growth and leadership. The overarching message was clear: women must be ready to accelerate action whenever opportunities present themselves, whether in professional, personal, or community settings.
One of the most significant takeaways from the celebration was the emphasis on sisterhood and solidarity. Speakers and participants alike reinforced the vital lesson that women should always love and support their fellow women, recognizing that collective advancement is stronger than individual success.
This message of mutual support aligns perfectly with the Inner Wheel philosophy of women working together to create positive change in their communities and beyond.
District 911 International Women’s Day celebration served as both a recognition of progress made and a call to action for continued advancement. By bringing together accomplished speakers and engaged participants, the event demonstrated the power of women’s voices united in purpose.
