INNER WHEEL CLUBS IN NIGERIA HOST THE 39TH EDITION OF THEIR ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND RALLY IN EDE, OSUN STATE

The National Governing Body of Inner Wheel Clubs in Nigeria successfully hosted its 39th Annual Conference and Rally from the 5th to 8th of February, 2026.  The event tagged Living Spring Extravaganza took place at the ADMUS Concept Hotel, Ede, Osun state.

The Conference brought together delegates from all the six districts in Nigeria, for a 4-day event aimed at strengthening Inner Wheel in Nigeria. The National Representative and President of Council of Inner Wheel Clubs in Nigeria, Funmi Ogunsi; alongside the hosting District Chairman D913, Sola Idowu; as well as the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Bola Odeleye at various times during the gathering welcomed all delegates to the conference. Goodwill messages were delivered from the International Inner Wheel President, Kay Morland highlighting Inner Wheel’s roles in the world and Nigeria’s place in it.

 COMMUNITY IMPACT AND KEY HIGHLIGHTS.

The events provided opportunities for humanitarian services within the community to reflect Inner Wheel core values. 

  • Community Service Project: Special welfare and medical outreach programs were conducted to support the local community as part of Inner Wheel commitment to enhancing capacity building and promoting wellness.
  • BUSINESS SESSIONS: Discussions were on the growth, sustainability and continued relevance of Inner Wheel in Nigeria, Africa and the world over. Emphasis was placed on rendering disciplined and focused services; on accountability and transparency; probity and protocols as we continue building our capacity to perform to international standards in the discharge of our humanitarian duties. It was also resolved that Inner Wheel Education must be intensified at all levels of our organization to achieve and maintain these values.
  • Guest Speaker’s Speech by Dr Abiola Akiyode Afolabi, the founding director of Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre [WARDC] who delivered a world-class speech on the issues of systemic exclusion of women in leadership positions urged us to take actions to change the status quo through education, through participation in community activities. That for us to “STEP UP AND LEAD BY EXAMPLE” IS A MORAL DEMAND.
  • AWARDS CEREMONY: the National President, Funmi Ogunsi congratulated and acknowledged the recipients of the awards as ‘’Travellers of the Same Seas’’ with Inner Wheel; as their Individual lives and contributions to society mirror the principles and values of our organization.
  • HOSTING BY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF OSUN STATE: This was the icing on the cake as the Governor accorded us a very beautiful gala nite that will remain memorable experiences for us.

RESOLUTIONS AND FUTURE PLANS.

The Conference concluded with several strategic resolutions to further strengthen Inner Wheel in Nigeria, Africa and our participation globally.

  • Expansion of the existing Micro- credit loan scheme for improved empowerment of beneficiaries across the districts with expectation of replication throughout Inner Wheel Africa.
  • Ratification of the National Governing Body and Executive for 2026/2027 Inner Wheel Year viz:

  • Ratification of Nigeria’s nominee for International Inner Wheel office for  Board Director 2027/2028 Nominee NR Funmi Ogunsi.
  • Endorsement of the 2 Constitution Amendment Proposals from NIGERIA for debate at the 2027 International Inner Wheel Convention in Manila.
  • Endorsement of Nigeria’s participation at the 2027 International Inner  Wheel Convention in Manila, Phillipines. And ratification of the nomination of National Coordinator for the same.
  • EXPANSION and ATTRACTING YOUNG MEMBERS:  It was unanimously concluded that we should make conscious and deliberate efforts to widen our scope of influence and our branding strategies through our social media handles. This is to encourage and attract upwardly mobile and suitably qualified young women to join our club. The options of formation of more E-Clubs should be explored with due diligence.
  • RETAINING MEMBERSHIP. Efforts should be made to give every member a sense of belonging and ownership. New members should be availed positions of responsibilities with necessary support system.

UPCOMING EVENTS

  • International Women’s Day 2026- 8th March: (Theme: Give to Gain) All clubs and Districts are expected to celebrate with various programmes and activities.
  • Inner Wheel Africa Rally – October, 2026 Cotonou Republic of Benin.
  • 40th National Conference and Rally, Aba, tagged ‘’Eyimba City of Excellence 2027’’
  • The 20th Triennial International Inner Wheel Convention coming up from 11th to 14th May, 2027.

The Conference had in attendance over 250 delegates whose focus was ensuring the ideals of personal service delivered in accordance with international best practices for the betterment of our communities and humanity in general.
