Inner Wheel Club of Umungasi Hosts Impactful Outreach at Cor Mariae Girls Comprehensive Secondary School

In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, the Inner Wheel Club of Umungasi organized a deeply impactful outreach programme at Cor Mariae Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Umungasi, Aba — bringing inspiration, education, and empowerment directly to the young women of tomorrow.

Setting the Tone: A Call to Dignity and Leadership

PBD Sally Unam opened the engagement with a heartfelt charge to the girls, encouraging them to uphold their dignity, conduct themselves with grace, and embrace the responsibility of becoming leaders of the future. Her words resonated deeply, setting a powerful tone for the day ahead.

The Theme: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis

Speaking on the event’s theme, “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis”, PDC Ihuoma Ndimele took the students on an enlightening journey through the history and significance of the International Day of the Girl Child. She passionately emphasized why the girl child must always be protected, educated, and uplifted — urging the students to take their studies seriously, walk in confidence, and stand up for one another.

“Be serious with your studies. Excel. Become great leaders — and always protect each other.”

Personal Hygiene: Knowledge that Empowers

In alignment with the year’s theme, PDC Uzumma Ogburuafor delivered an engaging and educative session on Personal Hygiene — guiding the students on the importance of cleanliness, self-care, healthy habits, and good grooming practices as they journey into womanhood. The students responded with remarkable enthusiasm and active participation, making the session both lively and impactful.

A Warm Welcome from the School

The school management, led by the esteemed Principal, Rev. Sister Henrietta Orakwe, warmly received the Inner Wheel Club of Umungasi and expressed sincere appreciation for the club’s choice to invest in their students. It was a meeting of shared purpose — educators and Inner Wheel women, united for the good of the girl child.

Gifts of Care and Encouragement

As a practical expression of support, the club presented gifts of sanitary pads, soaps, and snacks to the students — tangible tokens of care designed to encourage the practice of good hygiene and promote the overall well-being of every girl in attendance.

A Reflection of Inner Wheel’s True Spirit

This outreach was more than an event — it was a mission. It embodied the very soul of Inner Wheel: Friendship and Service. It provided a platform to inspire, educate, and positively transform the lives of young girls within the Umungasi community.

The Club President, IWM Mercy Udeagbala, closed the occasion with heartfelt gratitude to every member who participated and contributed to the project’s success — commending their teamwork, dedication, and boundless love for service.
